Dave Griffiths (Timpani & Percussion, Drum Kit, Conductor & Arranger)

                                     

David’s interest in conducting began at the young age of ten, when Major Arthur Kenney (ex-Welsh Guards/Cory Band) introduced him to score reading and stick technique. He went on to study conducting (2nd study) at the Royal Academy of Music, receiving advice and tuition from Colin Metters, Sir Colin Davis & Lynn Harrell.

 

Following a ‘Conductor Laureate’ award in 1992, presented by Alun Francis, Conductor of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, David was invited to conduct on a tour of Germany & South Wales, conducting the works of Wagner, Lalo, Rimsky-Korsakov & Shostakovich.

 

He has also been seen conducting a number of Brass Bands and Ensembles in and around the Welsh Principality and in London, as well as assistant M.D with the ‘Orbit Theatre Company’.

 

David is particularly keen to keep developing his conducting skills .
